Still from Thrice's official visualizer for their new single, "Albatross."

Thrice Shines A Light On Push-Pull Relationships With New Single, “Albatross”

Rock icons Thrice continue to evolve with their latest single "Albatross."

Rock innovators Thrice continue to evolve on the path of their upcoming studio album, Horizons/West, with the release of their latest single, “Albatross.” Following their lead-in single, “Gnash,” Thrice’s new release explores the ups and downs of tragic, push-pull relationships that leave sprinklings of hope amidst a sea of darkness.

Included with the release of their new single is an amazingly beautiful visualizer directed by Sean Stout, which truly captures the beauty in hopelessness that keeps us going, pushing towards the light in the void, while everything feels defeating.

On the topic of “Albatross,” Thrice frontman Dustin Kensrue shared, “We can take the very thing the world has offered us as a token of hope and good luck and destroy it, and in that way, I’ve found that we often create our own ill omens. Thankfully, I’ve found it’s not always too late to reverse those same curses.”

“Albatross” provides an amazing look into the push-pull nature of our world. I lost myself within the lyrical narrative on display while being washed away beautifully by the somber yet intricate nature of the instrumentals themselves. Beautiful in all parts of the story being told.

Thrice’s upcoming album, Horizons/West, featuring the new single “Albatross,” drops this fall with a celebratory nationwide tour with Modern Color and Downward kicking off on October 17 in San Diego, CA. Ticket and tour date info can be found on the band’s website.
