Spanish Love Songs Release Somber Music Video For Their New Single, “Cocaine & Lexapro”

Spanish Love Songs drop somber new music video for their latest single, "Cocaine & Lexapro."

Spanish Love Songs is taking over your sweater weather with the release of two new singles, “Cocaine & Lexapro,” which features the talented Kevin Devine, and “Berlin,” which the band has teamed with the sensational Tigers Jaw. Both singles will be featured on the group’s upcoming EP, A Brief Intermission in the Flattening of Time, releasing on November 21 via Pure Noise Records.

Alongside the release of both singles, Spanish Love Songs has also dropped a somber new music video for “Cocaine & Lexapro.” The Hannah Gray Hill and Ty Combs-created experience brings the group’s latest single into its own, creating a visually pleasing frame that brings the themes of the single to life beautifully.

When it comes to working with Kevin Devine, Dylan Slocum shares, “I’ve been trying to work with Kevin for a while now. We have a good number of mutual friends, but had never met up until this. The reasoning was simple—our band doesn’t exist without Kevin Devine, so when he agreed to sing on a song, he got to sing on a song. He took what I had demoed as an angry, contrarian second verse and turned it into something delicate and full of pathos. It absolutely floored me the first time I heard his vocal tracks dropped in.”

On the topic of Tigers Jaw dropping in for “Berlin,” he explained, “Tigers Jaw is another band that we love dearly and had somehow never met despite having friends in common. When we announced the Common Thread tour this year and saw they were on the bill, we figured we’d take a shot and asked if they’d be interested to sing on our weird song. At first, we thought only Ben was tracking, but when we received the track back and heard Brianna doing the harmonies we absolutely lost our mind. It’s the Tigers Jaw thing we love on an SLS song. That feeling is one of the core reasons we even toyed with the idea of having features, and in that moment made the entire experiment worth it.”

Spanish Love Songs’ latest singles, “Cocaine & Lexapro” and “Berlin,” can currently be streamed on your favorite streaming service of choice. Fans can also currently pre-order the band’s upcoming EP, A Brief Intermission in the Flattening of Time, in a variety of vinyl variants as well as a standard CD.
