Holly Wilks Reflects On Self-Reinvention With New Single “Box Dye”

Holly Wilks has released her melodic new single, "Box Dye," giving a complex look at self-reinvention.

Holly Wilks is back yet again with her latest single, “Box Dye,” a melodic eargasm that’ll have listeners hooked within the first few seconds as they’re transported to the inner thoughts of this emerging West London artist.

Taken from her upcoming EP, “Box Dye” blurs the lines between indie-pop and dream-pop beautifully, handcrafted self-expression at its finest, as Holly Wilks tackles the themes of self-reinvention wonderfully, constantly asking questions throughout the haunting lyrics as her sensational melodies ring through bright and sing-along ready across every twist and turn.

On the topic of her latest single, Holly Wilks shares, “The song was born from the realisation that I am often trying to distract myself from my inner disillusionment with myself by trying to reinvent myself externally – be that buying a new wardrobe, getting a fringe, or a trip to Boots to buy a box dye. This has proved to be a more relatable narrative than expected as I tried the song out at gigs last year, with lots of people singling it out as their favorite of the set.”

“Box Dye,” produced alongside long-term collaborator Finn Thornton, alongside creative partner Mac Adams, comes ahead of Holly Wilks’ sold-out headline show at St Pancras Clock Tower on January 29, which is shaping up to be a wonderful experience.
