Rhode Island pop-punkers Another One Down! has joined the Open Your Ears Records family, and to celebrate, the band has dropped their new ear-worm single, “Betray A Friend.”
The band’s latest single is taken off the upcoming deluxe edition release of their debut album, A Bitter Descent. A Bitter Descent Deluxe is currently planned for a May 26 release and will feature new music like “Betrary A Friend” and acoustic versions of fan favorites off the original release.
Another One Down! are on fire with “Betray A Friend,” a single that has quickly taken over my replay button. I’m looking forward to diving in deeper next month in my full review of A Bitter Descent Deluxe. “Betray A Friend” is a clear example of pop-punk done right, and I’m here for so much more.
On the topic of their original release, Another One Down! shared, “A Bitter Descent means a lot to us because it marks growth and progression for our band. For a long time, we felt like we were seen as sort of a throwaway easycore act, and we really wanted to prove that we have so much more to offer with this record.
One of our main goals going into the writing process was to tackle more mature subject matter, primarily overcoming mental health issues which is something each member of the band has struggled with in the past and we feel is important to discuss.
Another goal was to explore a wide variety of sounds and vibes while still creating a cohesive record. We’ve always been inspired by bands who are not afraid to give individuality to each song rather than write the same song 12 times, especially when they’re able to do that and still create a well-flowing record. We truly believe that we achieved these goals with A Bitter Descent, and we are so proud of how the record came out.”
Clearly, A Bitter Descent has a special place in the hearts of Another One Down!, which should show the dedication the band would put into a deluxe offering. As already mentioned, I’m looking forward to checking out the band’s deluxe release next month, which fans can pre-order starting today.
