REVIEW: The Maine Vibe Just Right With Their New Single, “Die To Fall”

The Maine begin the trek towards their 10th studio album with their latest single, "Die To Fall."

Everyone’s favorite pop-rock desert dwellers, The Maine, are full steam ahead towards the release of their 10th studio album, Joy Next Door, with the release of their new single “Die To Fall.” The first full taste of new music from this upcoming era of The Maine, following a long-form tease in the form of “Life in Forward Motion.”

“Die To Fall” is very unapologetically The Maine and doesn’t shy away from this fact, and I’m almost certain long-time fans will love what they hear within seconds of clicking play.

But, how well does The Maine’s latest single usher in this new phase of the Arizona rockers? Let’s find out.

“Die To Fall” kicks things off like an adrenaline shot, or that feeling on Space Mountain when you round that first drop and slingshot further into the darkness. It’s the quick velocity that The Maine decided to go with on this track that grabbed my attention instantly and had me wanting to jump into my car to listen at full volume in the middle of the night, just cruising with the street lamps illuminating my way.

Nothing hits like a new song from The Maine. Over the years, I’ve grown quite accustomed to their style of pop-rock and the way they bend the genre to their needs, never once letting it be a handicap for their full range of musical imagination. “Die To Fall” continues this trend while pushing the band further past their limitations, creating an all-new playground for the senses that’s intense, daring, and full of front-moving motion.

The Maine vocalist John O’Callaghan sings, “I wish that dream came true/Where I don’t pull my parachute/I’d feel alive if I wanted to.” It’s the catalyst for my journey as I grasp each lyric and note floating through my imagination, falling even further down this sensational hole of sound.

“Die To Fall” is begging to be performed in a room full of dancing fans losing full control and getting lost themselves in the atmosphere of love, hand-crafted beautifully by the Arizona rockers in a way that’s relatable, filled with life, and ready to be replayed constantly.

The Maine’s first taste of their new era is the perfect first taste for a full-fledged celebration that their upcoming album, Joy Next Door, promises to be, and “Die To Fall” checks every box for me in terms of replayability, a need to see it performed live, and creating an endless hype train that’s fully on its way to the station ready to be surprised with whatever sneaks into my ears next ahead of their 10th studio album.

“Die To Fall” can be streamed now via your favorite streaming platform of choice. Pre-order bundles for the upcoming album will also go live beginning February 3.

Ahead of the April 10 release of Joy Next Door, The Maine will be in the midst of their expansive 2026 I Love You But I Chose The Maine North American tour that kicks off on March 24 at the Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas, NV, and currently wraps on May 2 at The Bomb Factory in Dallas, TX. Further ticketing and show date information can be found on The Maine’s official website.
